UOCAVA voters can request Vote by Mail Ballots four ways:
When completing the FPCA, the online Vote by Mail Ballot Request Form or e-mailing your request, please be sure to provide the following information:
- Your residence address: This determines the jurisdiction where you vote. For military voters the voting address is your legal U.S. residence. For overseas citizens this is usually the U.S. address where you last lived. You do not need to have any current physical ties to this address. Do not use a post office box number. If the area has no street names, enter the route number and box number
- Your date of birth.
- Your current mailing address: Your mailing address could be the address where you currently reside outside of Nassau County, Florida.
- Your telephone number
- Your e-mail address
- How you wish to receive your Vote by Mail ballot (Email, Mail, or Fax)
Vote by Mail ballot requests are effective for all elections through the end of the calendar year for the second regularly scheduled general election, unless a specific election is noted on the request.
It is vitally important for UOCAVA voters to request Vote by Mail ballots as early as possible - the beginning of each year is advisable. Equally important is keeping our office informed of any address changes. Ballots that are returned undeliverable will automatically cancel the voter's request for future Vote by Mail ballots. The voter must then make a new Vote by Mail ballot request providing a current mailing address.
UOCAVA voters with foreign, APO and FPO addresses (excluding Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa or other American territories) may receive their Vote by Mail ballot by e-mail, mail or fax as indicated by the voter.
UOCAVA voters with a foreign address may return their ballots by mail or fax, but not by e-mail. If the ballot is faxed, the voter waives their right to a secret ballot. Access to your faxed ballot received in the Supervisor of Elections’ Office is highly restricted and the ballot is immediately placed in a secrecy envelope without examination. Only the Voter's Certificate, which must be signed and dated, is examined.
With respect to the presidential preference primary and the general election, any Vote by Mail ballot cast by an overseas voter which is postmarked or signed and dated no later than the date of the Federal election shall be counted if received no later than 10 days from the date of the Federal election as long as such Vote by Mail ballot is otherwise proper.
